In a significant move to bolster urban management, Kanpur's top administrative and police brass convened a crucial review meeting for the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) project. The high-level session, held on Tuesday, was chaired by Police Commissioner Kanpur Nagar, Raghubir Lal, and Divisional Commissioner Kanpur Nagar, K Vijayendra Pandian.
Focus on AI and Tech-Driven Governance

Expanding the Surveillance and Parking Infrastructure
Specific instructions were issued to expand the network of Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras throughout Kanpur. In a major integration effort, the authorities directed that approximately 3,000 CCTV cameras already installed under the Trinetra project be connected with the central ICCC system. This will create a unified monitoring framework. Furthermore, plans were finalized to operationalize smart parking facilities on a revenue model, aiming to decongest roads and generate civic income.
Launching a Major Joint Cleanup and Decongestion Campaign
Beyond tech initiatives, the meeting also addressed core civic issues. The commissioners ordered the formation of a joint team comprising police, municipal corporation, and other concerned departments. This team will spearhead an intensive campaign focusing on three key areas:
- Ensuring public cleanliness.
- Removing illegal encroachments from streets and footpaths.
- Implementing measures for systematic traffic improvement.
To ensure the campaign's effectiveness, concerned police officers were directed to provide the necessary additional police force to support this inter-departmental drive. This collaborative approach aims to tackle long-standing urban challenges head-on.
