Centre Approves 15 Railway Crossings for Hoshiarpur Constituency
Hoshiarpur MP Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal announced today that the central government has approved approximately 15 railway overbridges and underpasses across the Hoshiarpur constituency. The projects include several key infrastructure developments for Phagwara, addressing long-standing demands for improved connectivity and traffic relief.
Speaking to mediapersons in Phagwara, Dr Chabbewal highlighted that the approval of an underpass at Satnampura Sugar Mill Chowk fulfills one of the area's most persistent requests. He stated that he had consistently raised these issues with the Centre, leading to their approval.
Key Projects to Benefit Commuters
The approved projects include the Gobindpura-Industrial Area railway underpass, Nangal railway bridge, Satnampura Sugar Mill Chowk railway underpass, Khera Road railway overbridge, and Mauli railway underbridge. These structures aim to improve connectivity and ease traffic movement in the region.
Dr Chabbewal noted that residents of Satnampura and nearby areas will particularly benefit from the proposed railway underpass at the Satnampura Sugar Mill Chowk railway crossing. Currently, commuters are forced to travel long distances to reach the bus stand, railway station, and other markets in Phagwara due to the railway line.
Long-Pending Demand Fulfilled
The MP described the underpass at Satnampura Sugar Mill Chowk as a crucial project that will significantly reduce travel time and inconvenience for local residents. He emphasized that the central government's approval marks a major step toward modernizing infrastructure in the constituency.
Dr Chabbewal reiterated his commitment to pursuing further development projects for the region, stating that improved connectivity will boost economic activity and quality of life. The projects are expected to be executed in a phased manner, with timelines to be announced after detailed planning.
