The Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) has launched the Citizen Feedback-2026 initiative as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban campaign in Hubballi. This program aims to enhance sanitation and municipal services by enabling the public to share their opinions through a simple QR code scan.
Campaign Monitoring and Participation
The campaign is being directly monitored by Swachh Sarvekshan officials. So far, around 12,000 citizens have expressed their opinions, though the expected participation from the twin cities is 1 lakh people. The initiative is expected to play a crucial role in beautifying the Hubballi-Dharwad twin cities.
Points System and Feedback Process
As part of the Swachh Sarvekshan, the campaign carries 300 points. Points are awarded for positive feedback and deducted for negative feedback, thereby revealing the cleanliness performance of the twin cities. Participants must enter their mobile number and provide several pieces of information immediately after scanning the QR code. A questionnaire then opens, and the public must answer the questions. Based on the information provided by citizens, the corporation can assess the cleanliness and sanitation measures taken in the twin cities.
Executive Engineer's Statement
Santosh Yarangalli, Executive Engineer of HDMC's solid waste management department, told TOI that Citizen Feedback-2026 is part of the Swachh Bharat Mission campaign. He stated that the initiative is being promoted and public awareness is being created to encourage more participation. The goal is to achieve full marks in the Swachh Sarvekshan, which will be determined by public opinion. The campaign is divided into three age groups: 20-35 years (40,000 citizens), 35-60 years (30,000 citizens), and 60 years and above (30,000 citizens). The corporation is creating awareness to ensure full marks are attained.
Yarangalli added that more than 12,000 people have already participated and expressed their opinions. Since the campaign is directly managed by Swachh Sarvekshan officials, everything is conducted transparently.
