In a significant achievement for digital governance, the Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) has clinched the top spot statewide for the fastest disposal of files through the e-office system. The civic body processed a staggering 11,348 e-office files in the shortest time, earning it the first rank in the Commissioners’ ranking at the state level.
A Record-Breaking Performance in File Disposal
The ranking was officially announced by Municipal Administration Principal Secretary S Suresh Kumar at the State Secretariat in Amaravati on Friday. The evaluation, which considered file handling speed, disposal rates, and overall transparency, placed Guntur ahead of all other municipal corporations in Andhra Pradesh. The corporation achieved this feat by processing the highest number of files within an impressive average time of 1 day and 6 hours, aligning with the chief minister's directives for efficient administration.
Leadership and Transformation Behind the Success
Commissioner Puli Srinivasulu, who led the corporation to this milestone, highlighted the transformative journey. He explained that municipal departments were previously reliant on manual file processing. Through consistent awareness programs and training sessions for officers and staff, as mandated by government guidelines, the GMC achieved 100% implementation of the e-office system across all departments.
Srinivasulu detailed the multifaceted benefits of this digital shift:
- Enhanced Transparency: The system has made administrative processes more open and accountable.
- Secure Digital Record-Keeping: Files are now stored digitally, ensuring long-term security and easy retrieval.
- Financial Control: The mechanism has helped in curbing potential financial losses.
- Citizen Empowerment: Residents can now easily track their file status online, knowing exactly which stage or office it is pending at, thereby boosting public trust.
Addressing Past Delays and Future Roadmap
The Commissioner candidly addressed previous bottlenecks, noting that files were often delayed at various levels, including senior officials' offices and secretariat sections. He assured that these specific delay points have been identified and that corrective measures are underway to further accelerate the disposal process.
Looking ahead, Srinivasulu committed to initiating additional steps to strengthen the e-office framework. The focus remains on ensuring even faster service delivery to the public, making Guntur's municipal administration more efficient, transparent, and citizen-friendly in the coming days.
