Electoral Rolls Revision: BLOs Begin House-to-House Enumeration in Chandigarh
Electoral Rolls Revision: BLOs Start Door-to-Door Enumeration

Chandigarh: Booth level officers (BLOs) commenced house-to-house visits across the Union Territory on Monday as part of the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The enumeration phase, scheduled by the Election Commission of India (ECI), will continue from June 15 to July 14, 2026.

Officials confirmed that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure the smooth conduct of the exercise. On the opening day, BLOs distributed 37,410 enumeration forms to electors across the city by 5 pm.

Enumeration Process and Assistance

During the enumeration phase, BLOs will undertake door-to-door visits to distribute and collect forms. Each elector will receive two copies and assistance in filling them, if required. In cases where houses are found locked, BLOs will leave the forms at the premises and make at least three follow-up visits on different dates.

Electors may also submit filled forms online through the ECINet Mobile App or the Voters’ Service Portal, subject to verification by the concerned BLO.

Documentation and Verification

Electors are requested to provide mapping details from the previous SIR conducted in 2002–2003. Where unavailable, details of parents or grandparents recorded in the 2002–2003 SIR or the recently conducted 2025–2026 SIR in 12 states/UTs may be provided. Records can be accessed via the chief electoral officer, Chandigarh’s website, ECINet App, or the Voters’ Service Portal.

Eligible residents whose names are missing from the current roll may submit Form 6 with the prescribed declaration. Applications will be processed after the draft electoral roll is published on July 21, 2026.

Stakeholder Participation

Recognised political parties, booth level agents (BLAs), resident welfare associations, educational institutions, and other stakeholders have been urged to actively participate and assist electors in timely submission of forms.

Helpline and Support

For assistance, electors may contact their BLO, use the “Book a call” facility on ECINet, or dial the voter helpline 1950, which will operate round the clock during the revision period. Help desks have also been set up at various locations across Chandigarh.
