Delhi's Major Facelift for India-AI Summit: NDMC Beautifies 41 Key Roads
The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has launched a large-scale beautification drive in the Capital, stepping up preparations for the upcoming India-AI Impact Summit 2026. The summit is scheduled to be held at Bharat Mandapam from February 16 to 20, 2026, prompting extensive infrastructural upgrades across the city.
Focus on 41 Major Roads in Lutyens Delhi
Under the beautification efforts, NDMC is concentrating on 41 major roads in Lutyens Delhi, including VIP routes, Central Vista, Connaught Place, and approaches to Bharat Mandapam. Officials have stated that these upgrades are expected to be on a scale comparable to the G20 summit held in Delhi in 2023, encompassing advanced road safety measures, proper solid waste management, and enhancement of key road stretches.
"A multi-departmental action plan is being implemented to present a clean, green, safe, and truly world-class Capital," said NDMC's Vice Chairperson, Kuljeet Singh Chahal. The initiative aims to improve the city's infrastructure and aesthetic appeal for both residents and international visitors attending the summit.
Infrastructural and Aesthetic Enhancements
To ensure safe, smooth, and visually appealing road infrastructure, the following measures will be put in place:
- Flexible Urban Delineators
- Solar Raised Pavement Markers
- Anti-Glare Boards
- Linear Delineation Systems
- Speed Arrester Studs
Additionally, the horticulture department has installed approximately 5,000 potted plants at prominent locations, including Connaught Place, Sardar Patel Marg, Emporium BKS Marg, C-Hexagon, and Khan Market. This effort is part of a broader strategy to enhance the area's aesthetic appeal during the summit.
Waste Management and Additional Events
Intensified mechanised and manual sweeping will be carried out, along with proper and timely disposal of waste, as part of the beautification drive. Furthermore, the annual Tulip festival will be held at the lawns of Shanti Path in Chanakyapuri during the summit, adding to the cultural and visual experience for attendees.
This comprehensive preparation underscores Delhi's commitment to hosting a successful and impactful India-AI Impact Summit, showcasing the city's readiness on a global stage.
