Delhi Traffic Alert: New Rohtak Road Congestion Until Jan 31 Due to TPDDL Work
Delhi Traffic Snarls on New Rohtak Road Until Jan 31

Commuters in the national capital are facing significant delays on a key central Delhi artery. Traffic movement on New Rohtak Road is expected to remain slow and congested for several days due to ongoing infrastructure upgrade work.

Cause of the Congestion: TPDDL's Upgrade Project

The disruption is a result of underground cabling maintenance and upgradation work being executed by Tata Power–Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL). The utility work is currently focused on the stretch between Kamal T-Point and Liberty Cinema, moving towards the Paharganj area.

To facilitate this essential work, excavation has been undertaken, affecting two lanes of New Rohtak Road. This has led to restricted movement for vehicles and is causing frequent traffic bottlenecks throughout the day.

Official Advisory and Duration

In response to the situation, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued a formal advisory for motorists. The authorities have stated that the traffic restrictions are expected to remain in force until January 31.

Commuters are specifically advised to avoid the stretch from Anand Parbat to Liberty Cinema via Kamal T-Point to prevent getting stuck in long queues and experiencing major delays.

Recommended Alternate Routes

The traffic police have suggested the following detours to help navigate around the congestion zone:

  • For those heading towards Paharganj or New Delhi Railway Station: Take a left turn from Kamal T-Point towards Sarai Rohilla, then a right turn onto Veer Banda Bairagi Marg, and proceed via Rani Jhansi Road.
  • For travellers coming from Shastri Nagar Chowk towards Liberty Cinema: Avoid Swami Narayan Marg and use Rani Jhansi Road instead.

Motorists are strongly urged to adhere to all traffic rules and cooperate with police personnel deployed at key intersections to manage the flow. For real-time updates and on-road assistance, commuters can follow Delhi Traffic Police on its official social media platforms or contact the dedicated traffic helpline numbers.
