Prayagraj: The Executive Council (EC) of Allahabad University approved several faculty appointments and promotions during its online meeting held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Prof Sangita Srivastava.
According to Public Relations Officer Prof Jaya Kapoor, interviews for various academic positions in the Urdu department were conducted on June 11 and 12. The EC subsequently granted approval to the selected candidates. Sanjay Kumar was appointed as associate professor, while Tahira Parveen and Shahid Malik were selected as assistant professors under the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category. Ashutosh Srivastava and Suraj Kumar were approved for assistant professor positions under the unreserved category. Three posts, however, remained vacant due to the non-availability of suitable candidates.
The council also approved promotions under the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS). In the Urdu department, Mohammad Kasif, Sanjay Kumar and Zafrulla Ansari were promoted. Likewise, in the Geography Department, Kiran Kumari Singh and Pawan Kumar Sharma were elevated from associate professor to professor under the CAS.
