The Andhra Pradesh government has announced a significant administrative promotion, elevating five senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers to the rank of government secretaries. This move places them in the Super Time Scale (Pay Matrix Level-14) and is effective from the start of the next financial cycle, January 1, 2026.
Meet the Promoted Officers and Their Roles
The five officers from the 2010 batch who have been granted this career advancement are Chadalavada Nagarani, Dr. Narayana Bharat Gupta, Amrapali Kata, J. Niwas, and Gandham Chandrudu. This promotion is part of a standard routine administrative upgradation process, bringing their seniority and pay on par with cadre secretaries within the state bureaucracy.
Following their elevation, several officers will continue or assume new key responsibilities. Dr. Narayana Bharat Gupta will retain his dual charge as the Commissioner of Collegiate Education and the State Project Director of ARUSP. Similarly, Amrapali Kata continues to lead the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation as its Vice-Chairperson and Managing Director.
New Appointments and Continuations
In a fresh appointment, Gandham Chandrudu has taken over as the Labour Commissioner, holding full additional charge of the post. He has assumed the role following the relieving of the previous officer, M. V. Seshagiri Babu.
Chadalavada Nagarani will continue her crucial ground-level administration, remaining in her post as the District Collector and District Magistrate of West Godavari district despite her new secretary-level rank.
Administrative Alignment and Future Steps
Commenting on the procedural aspects of these promotions, Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand clarified that the state administration will issue separate orders as needed. These orders will address the creation of new posts, upgradation of existing ones, and ensuring cadre parity to fully align the administrative structure with the newly promoted officers' status.
This strategic promotion of experienced IAS officers underscores the state government's focus on strengthening its administrative framework with seasoned leadership. The move ensures continuity in key departments while rewarding bureaucratic tenure and experience.
