Uttar Pradesh is witnessing rapid progress in the digitization of voter forms as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) program, with nearly half of all forms already processed according to election officials.
Significant Progress in Voter Data Digitization
Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa announced on Thursday that the state has successfully digitized 7.34 crore voter forms, representing approximately 48% of the total forms requiring processing. This massive digitization drive is part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision aimed at updating and streamlining the electoral rolls across India's most populous state.
Leading Districts and Acceleration Measures
Rinwa highlighted that several districts have demonstrated exceptional performance, surpassing the 50% digitization milestone. The high-performing districts include Auraiya, Ambedkarnagar, Chitrakoot, Barabanki, Pilibhit, Saharanpur, Amroha, Moradabad, Basti, Rampur, Chandauli, Sant Kabir Nagar, Siddharthnagar, Bareilly, Azamgarh, Firozabad and Etah.
To address areas with slower progress, the Chief Electoral Officer has directed district election officers to implement motivational measures for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and deploy additional skilled staff where necessary. For urban regions, Rinwa suggested engaging NCC and NSS volunteers, self-help groups, and municipal staff to accelerate form collection efforts.
Public Participation Crucial for Success
Rinwa emphasized the critical importance of public cooperation in completing this exercise efficiently. He urged all eligible voters to fill out their forms completely and submit them with a recent passport-size photograph to their respective BLOs at the earliest opportunity.
The timely completion of this digitization process is essential for creating error-free voter lists ahead of upcoming elections. Rinwa stressed that active public participation would ensure that every eligible citizen is included in the updated electoral rolls, thereby strengthening the democratic process.
The digitization initiative represents a significant step toward modernizing India's electoral system and ensuring greater accuracy in voter registration data. With nearly half the work completed, election officials remain optimistic about meeting their targets through continued coordinated efforts between election machinery and public cooperation.
