Karur: Security arrangements have been significantly intensified at M Kumarasamy College of Engineering in Thalavapalayam, Karur district, where counting of votes for the district will take place on May 4. The polling for the assembly election for the four constituencies of the district was conducted on April 23 across 1,111 polling stations.
Three-Tier Security Cover
A robust three-tier security cover has been established at the counting centre. As many as 903 personnel from the central armed police forces and the state police will be deployed to ensure security, as confirmed by the district administration. This massive deployment aims to maintain law and order throughout the counting process.
Elaborate Arrangements for Counting Day
Authorities have made comprehensive arrangements for counting day, with separate committees and officers designated to oversee essential services. These include uninterrupted power supply, drinking water, restrooms, emergency medical teams, fire and rescue services, '108' ambulance services, and the provision of Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS). Such measures are intended to facilitate smooth operations and address any potential emergencies.
CCTV cameras have been installed to monitor the counting halls and tables, ensuring transparency and security. Separate access corridors have been created to facilitate the movement of candidates' agents and officials, with police personnel deployed along these routes to prevent any unauthorized access.
A meeting to review the preparatory arrangements was held on Thursday, chaired by district election officer and collector K Ravikumar. During the meeting, officials discussed the security blueprint and logistical support to be provided on counting day.
