Indore Achieves 100% Digitisation of 28.67 Lakh Voter Forms, Launches Re-verification Drive
Indore completes 100% digitisation of voter forms

The Indore District Election Office announced a significant milestone on Saturday, confirming the complete digitisation of all Electoral Forms (EFs) as part of its ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive. With this digital transformation complete, the administration is now pivoting its focus to the crucial final phase of house-to-house verification before the electoral roll is officially published.

The Scale of Digitisation and the ASDD Challenge

Official records reveal that the election authorities successfully digitised forms for all 28.67 lakh voters enrolled across Indore district's nine assembly constituencies. Out of this massive database, the presence of 23.02 lakh voters has been confirmed through initial efforts. However, a substantial segment of 5.64 lakh voters has been categorised under ASDD, which stands for Absent, Shifted, Dead, or Duplicate entries. These categories now require intensive re-verification.

The breakdown of the 5.64 lakh ASDD voters highlights the magnitude of the task ahead for election officials. Sources indicate that approximately 41,500 voters have been confirmed as deceased. Furthermore, around 2.04 lakh voters are identified as having permanently shifted from their registered addresses. The most significant portion, about 2.70 lakh voters, remains untraceable by the survey teams so far.

Launch of a Focused Re-verification Campaign

To address these discrepancies and clean up the electoral roll, the election office is initiating a targeted re-verification campaign. Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Navjeevan Panwar stated that the immediate strategy involves re-engaging Booth Level Officers (BLOs) with support from Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to re-verify the ASDD electors. A key meeting with all BLOs and BLAs is scheduled for Monday, where they will receive specific ASDD lists for their respective wards.

This critical 're-verification drive' is set to run until December 11. The administration's goal is to use this period to validate, correct, or remove the problematic entries, ensuring a highly accurate voter list.

Roadmap to a Final, Error-Free Electoral Roll

The ADM outlined a clear timeline for the publication of the revised electoral rolls. The first major step will be the release of a draft electoral roll on December 16. Following this publication, the general public will be invited to scrutinise the list and submit claims and objections. This window for public feedback will be open from December 16 to January 15.

After considering and processing all claims and objections, the final, cleaned electoral roll for Indore district is slated for official publication on February 14. This phased approach, combining technology-driven digitisation with grassroots-level verification, aims to deliver a maximally accurate and error-free voter database for the district.
