Delhi Metro Starts Early at 4 AM for MCD Bye-Elections
Delhi Metro Timings Change for MCD Bye-Elections

In a special measure to facilitate the smooth conduct of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) bye-elections, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced a significant change in its operating hours. Services across the entire network will commence early on both polling and counting days.

Revised Schedule for Polling and Counting Days

The Delhi Metro, often described as the lifeline of the national capital, will begin its services at 4:00 AM instead of the usual 5:00 AM. This early start will be implemented on two key dates: November 30, which is the polling day, and December 3, the day scheduled for the counting of votes.

This initiative is specifically designed to assist the movement of polling personnel, security staff, and other officials deployed for election duty, ensuring they can reach their assigned locations well in time.

Detailed Timetable for Commuters

For November 30 (Sunday), the first trains will depart from all terminal stations at 4:00 AM. From 4:00 AM until 6:00 AM, trains will run at a frequency of every 30 minutes. After 6:00 AM, the metro will revert to its regular Sunday timetable. In another departure from the norm, the last train on this day will leave at 11:30 PM, which is 30 minutes later than the usual closing time.

For December 3 (Wednesday), the same early morning schedule will apply. Trains will start at 4:00 AM with a 30-minute headway until 6:00 AM. Following this initial period, the service will seamlessly transition to the standard weekday timetable for the rest of the day.

Network-Wide Implementation and Regular Services

It is important to note that this early rollout applies to all metro lines and every terminal station. Whether you travel on the bustling Blue Line or any other corridor, the 4:00 AM start time will be consistent across the network. This ensures that staff and the general public relying on any part of the vast metro system can benefit from the extended service.

On all other days outside of these election dates, the Delhi Metro will continue to operate according to its regular daily schedule, which is from 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM.

Commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly. For the most accurate and personalized travel information, including first and last train timings and interchange details, passengers can use the Trip Planner feature on the official DMRC website and mobile app.
