The Gujarat Congress unit has leveled serious allegations against the State Election Commission (SEC), accusing it of mismanagement and providing insufficient information that inconvenienced voters during the recent polls. According to the party, many citizens were unable to cast their votes due to last-minute changes in the location of polling stations.
Voters Face Chaos at Polling Booths
State Congress media convener Manish Doshi highlighted that voters encountered significant difficulties in accessing details about their designated polling stations online. The SEC website operated at an extremely slow pace, making it nearly impossible for many to retrieve necessary information. Doshi further stated that the last-minute alterations in polling center locations created a chaotic environment where a substantial number of voters were left disenfranchised.
"Voters could not access details of their polling stations online because the SEC website was operating very slowly. Additionally, last-minute changes in the location of polling centres created a situation where many voters could not exercise their voting rights, leading to chaos," Doshi said.
Incomplete Information and Call for Action
Doshi also criticized the SEC for providing a website link that failed to furnish specific details about the exact polling station where each voter was supposed to cast their ballot. He demanded strict action against those responsible for depriving voters of their rights by supplying incomplete information.
"The website link provided by the SEC did not provide information about the specific polling station where they were supposed to vote. Strict action should be taken against those responsible for depriving voters of their rights by providing incomplete information," he added.
The Congress party has urged the SEC to address these issues promptly to ensure fair and transparent elections in the future.
