With counting complete across all 28 rounds, Balamurugan polled 1,33,339 votes, defeating DMK’s Dr A P Poornima by a margin of 58,781 votes. Poornima secured 74,558 votes, while PMK’s K N Sekar finished third with 35,997 votes.
