US President Donald Trump on Thursday made a series of strong remarks about Iran, claiming that the country's military capabilities had been severely degraded. Speaking to reporters, Trump said Iran no longer had an effective navy or air force and asserted that its leadership structure had been “wiped out.” He also criticised media coverage of the conflict, accusing what he called the “fake news” of portraying Iran as performing well despite the damage it had suffered.
Tensions Escalate After Strikes
Tensions across the Middle East escalated after the United States and Israel carried out broad strikes on Iran on February 28, an operation that targeted senior Iranian leadership. Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was reported killed in the attack, according to US and Israeli accounts. Iran responded with missile and drone strikes against Israel and against targets linked to US allies in the Gulf, widening the regional confrontation. The retaliation included attacks aimed at US bases and regional partners, deepening fears of a broader conflict across the Middle East.
Trump Signals Possible Meeting
Trump signaled a willingness to engage directly with Iran's leadership if ongoing negotiations produce a breakthrough. Speaking to reporters, he said it was possible he could meet Iran's Supreme Leader if Washington and Tehran reach an agreement. "It's possible that he would meet Iran's supreme leader if Iran makes a deal," he said. Addressing the possibility of renewed military action, Trump indicated that any future conflict would depend on Iran's actions.
UN Nuclear Watchdog Unable to Inspect Facilities
The International Atomic Energy Agency reported that it has been unable to inspect nuclear facilities in Iran affected by the war last June. According to the Associated Press, the IAEA said it “cannot provide any information on the current size, composition or whereabouts of the stockpile of enriched uranium in Iran or whether Iran has suspended all enrichment-related activities.”
Israeli Forces Continue Attacks in Lebanon
According to Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA), Israeli warplanes launched four missiles that struck in the vicinity of the Jabal Amel Hospital in Tyre. Artillery shelling was also reported at the same time in the town of Deir Amas in the Tyre district.
Oman Suspends Oil Loading After Blast
Reuters reports that Oman suspended crude oil loading operations at its key Mina Al Fahal terminal following an explosion near its single-buoy mooring berths. The blast occurred between SBM 1 and SBM 2 berths and was allegedly triggered by a drone attack, according to the sources.
Lebanon Says Ceasefire Deal Its Last Chance
Lebanon’s Prime Minister Nawaf Salam defended the negotiations, saying diplomacy remains the least costly option for Lebanon. He stated that a comprehensive ceasefire deal is Lebanon's last chance to avoid further devastation.

Israel's Ambassador to India stated that Israel does not depend on the consent of Iran when exercising its right for self-defence, amid ongoing military operations.
