Noida International Airport Achieves Key Milestone with DGCA Aerodrome Licence
In a significant development for aviation infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh, a delegation from the Noida International Airport presented the aerodrome licence issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday. Officials emphasized that with the aerodrome licence now secured, the focus has shifted to the concluding stages of regulatory approvals, which are currently in motion.
The airport's aerodrome security programme is presently under thorough review by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security. Once this security clearance is issued, airport authorities will coordinate with relevant departments to finalize the date for the formal launch, ensuring all safety and operational standards are met.
Strategic Location and Development Phases of the Greenfield Project
Located in Jewar, Gautam Buddha Nagar, the Noida International Airport is being developed as a major greenfield initiative aimed at enhancing air connectivity for the National Capital Region and western Uttar Pradesh. The project combines Swiss operational efficiency with Indian hospitality, progressing through four meticulously planned phases.
In Phase 1, significant infrastructure has been constructed, including:
- One runway designed for efficient aircraft operations.
- A passenger terminal spanning approximately 1.38 lakh square meters.
- Facilities to serve around 12 million passengers annually.
The terminal is equipped with modern amenities such as check-in counters, security lanes, immigration facilities, aerobridges, and aircraft parking positions. Additionally, a cargo hub and advanced digital systems are being integrated to support logistics and passenger services.
