Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a significant meeting with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva at Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Friday. Prior to the meeting, President Lula received a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where he was warmly greeted by President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This marked the beginning of his state visit, which spans from February 18 to February 22, highlighting the importance both nations place on this diplomatic exchange.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar also welcomed the Brazilian leader, expressing optimism about the future of bilateral relations. - Securing Critical Mineral Supplies: India is actively working to reduce its reliance on China for rare earth elements, which are essential for electric vehicles, renewable energy systems, electronics, and defence manufacturing. Brazil, with the world's second-largest reserves of rare earths, is emerging as a crucial partner in this strategy.
