Union Minister Nityanand Rai Conducts Detailed Border Security Review in Rajasthan
Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai wrapped up a significant three-day inspection tour along the India-Pakistan border in Rajasthan. His visit covered the Jaisalmer and Barmer districts from Saturday through Monday. The minister focused on assessing security arrangements and engaging directly with Border Security Force personnel stationed in forward areas.
Minister Interacts with BSF Troops and Visits Sacred Temple
During his tour, Minister Rai took time to interact with BSF jawans and officers. He listened to their experiences and challenges while serving on the front lines. The minister also made a spiritual stop at the Tanot Mata temple located near the border. There, he offered prayers for the nation's peace and prosperity.
Senior BSF officers accompanied the minister throughout his journey. This group included DIG Jatinder Singh Binji from Sector North, DIG M K Negi from Sector South, and Commandant Mukesh Panwar of the 122 Battalion. Their presence ensured the minister received comprehensive briefings on ground realities.
Special Inspection of Women-Operated Border Outpost 'Nalka'
A highlight of the tour was the inspection of Border Outpost 'Nalka'. This outpost holds special significance as it operates entirely with women personnel. Officers provided detailed briefings to Minister Rai about the outpost's daily functioning. They explained surveillance measures, border domination activities, and coordination mechanisms in place.
Minister Rai expressed deep admiration for the women personnel. He referred to them as "Veeranganas" – brave women warriors. The minister stated their deployment on forward fronts demonstrates India's growing confidence in the capabilities of women in uniform. He connected this development to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's focus on women empowerment and women-led development initiatives.
Modernization Efforts and Security Infrastructure Assessment
Minister Rai also acknowledged the leadership of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He noted that under Shah's guidance, the BSF has seen substantial strengthening. This includes the deployment of modern surveillance systems, improved infrastructure, advanced training programs, and enhanced welfare measures for personnel.
To better understand operational challenges, the minister conducted a vehicle patrol in the border area. He personally inspected key security infrastructure. This included the border fence, the flood lighting system, and various surveillance setups. These arrangements aim to prevent infiltration, smuggling, and other cross-border criminal activities effectively.
