Jalna Congress MP Among Dozens Stranded in Gulf Amid Regional Conflict

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: In a distressing development, Jalna Congress MP Dr Kalyan Kale is among 33 individuals from the Marathwada region who have found themselves stranded in various Gulf countries. This situation arose following the abrupt suspension of international flight services, a direct consequence of the escalating conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran.

Widespread Stranding Across the Gulf Region

The suspension has impacted hundreds of residents from Marathwada's eight districts who are currently living in the Gulf on job visas. According to detailed reports from district authorities, the stranded individuals are dispersed across several locations. Specifically, nine people are confirmed to be stuck in Dubai alone, with others located in Abu Dhabi and various neighboring Gulf nations. Authorities have emphasized that all individuals are reported to be safe and are maintaining regular communication with their anxious families back home.

Details on MP Dr Kalyan Kale's Situation

Dr Kalyan Kale, accompanied by six friends, had embarked on a leisure trip to Dubai. Their journey began on February 27, traveling via Delhi. The trip was intended as a vacation with a classmate. However, their plans for a return were abruptly halted when airlines announced the immediate suspension of all services. This decision was made in light of the severe, war-like situation unfolding in the region, marked by military actions and heightened tensions.

Providing reassurance, his brother, Jagannath Kale, confirmed that the MP and his entire group of companions are currently safe. He stated they are in regular and consistent contact with their family members, alleviating some concerns amidst the uncertainty.

Other Notable Individuals Affected

The flight suspension has also impacted other prominent local figures. Among those stranded in Dubai are the daughter and son-in-law of Police Commissioner Pravin Pawar. The couple, who celebrated their marriage just a few months prior, had recently relocated to Dubai. There, Pawar's son-in-law manages and operates a thriving real estate and development business, adding a layer of professional complication to their unexpected stranding.

Background: The Regional Conflict

The flight suspensions are a direct result of a severe geopolitical crisis. Key developments in the conflict include:

  • Israeli military strikes targeting Hezbollah positions in Beirut.
  • Iranian state media releasing a video purporting to show a US F-15 fighter jet engulfed in flames and pilots ejecting, claiming it was downed in Kuwait—a claim contested by US officials.
  • Reports of explosions in other Gulf capitals like Bahrain, Dubai, and Doha, though details remain unverified.
  • Gulf nations issuing strong statements vowing to defend their territories and maintain stability.

This volatile environment has forced airlines to prioritize safety, leading to the widespread cancellation and suspension of flights, thereby trapping numerous international travelers, including the contingent from Marathwada.
