DGCA Completes Extensive Regulatory Audits of Aircraft Charter Operators in 2025

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has conducted a comprehensive series of regulatory audits targeting non-scheduled operators, commonly known as aircraft charter companies, throughout the year 2025. According to an official statement released by the government on Thursday, a total of 51 regulatory audits were carried out, with authorities confirming that all findings identified during these inspections have been successfully addressed and closed.

Surveillance of VSR Ventures Following Baramati Accident

The Civil Aviation Ministry disclosed that these audits included specific surveillance activities focused on VSR Ventures, the operator of the Learjet 45 aircraft involved in a tragic accident at Baramati on January 28. This crash resulted in the unfortunate deaths of several individuals, including prominent political figure Ajit Pawar, prompting immediate regulatory action.

In response to the incident, DGCA was directed to conduct a thorough and detailed audit of VSR Ventures. This audit encompasses multiple critical areas of aviation operations, including regulatory compliance, safety management systems, crew training protocols, and flight data monitoring practices. The ministry stated that the audit process commenced on February 4 and is anticipated to be finalized in the near future.

Ongoing Audits of VIP Operations and Aerodromes

Beyond the specific case of VSR Ventures, DGCA is actively engaged in auditing other significant non-scheduled operators and aerodromes that are involved in VIP operations. This broader initiative underscores the regulator's commitment to enhancing safety standards across the aviation sector, particularly for high-profile and sensitive flight operations.

The completion of these 51 audits, with all findings resolved, marks a significant step in DGCA's ongoing efforts to ensure rigorous compliance and uphold the highest levels of aviation safety in India's charter industry.
