The CISF Vande Mataram Coastal Cyclothon-2026 was officially flagged off from Panambur Beach in Mangaluru on Thursday, marking the start of an ambitious 25-day journey along India's coastline. This significant event saw cyclists from Mangaluru set off towards Bekal, with the rally themed 'Surakshit Tat, Samriddh Bharat' (Secure Coast, Prosperous India).
Journey Details and Objectives
Commencing on January 28, the cyclothon is scheduled to culminate in Cochin, Kerala, on February 22, as part of the commemoration of 150 years of Vande Mataram. The outreach initiative covers the entire coastline of India, spanning approximately 6,500 kilometers across nine coastal states. A total of 130 CISF cyclists, including 65 women, are participating in this monumental ride.
The primary aims of the cyclothon are to integrate messages of coastal security, ecological security, and national pride, supporting the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047. As part of this initiative, CISF plans to adopt 52 villages along the route and raise awareness about employment opportunities available to youth in India's security forces. The participation of women cyclists is specifically intended to inspire young girls across the nation.

Approximately 500 participants gathered at the venue to cheer the cyclists as they embarked on their journey. The cyclists interacted with students and community members before proceeding via Kundapur to Brahmavar. They later held an interaction program at a government college in Kaup and continued on to Hejamady, then to Mangaluru.
Engagement and Community Outreach
Throughout the cyclothon, participants will engage with coastal communities, youth, students, local stakeholders, and institutions along both the eastern and western seaboards. This engagement is designed to foster a sense of unity and shared responsibility for India's coastal and ecological security. The initiative not only promotes physical fitness and endurance but also serves as a platform for national integration and awareness-building.
By covering such an extensive distance and involving a diverse group of cyclists, the CISF aims to highlight the importance of protecting India's coastal regions while inspiring citizens to contribute to the nation's development goals. The cyclothon stands as a testament to the dedication and spirit of India's security forces in promoting a safer and more prosperous future for all.
