Bihar's Rajgir to Get Immersive Dinosaur Park with Moving Replicas and Volcano
Patna: A groundbreaking dinosaur park is currently under development in Rajgir, located within Nalanda district, promising to deliver an unparalleled prehistoric experience to visitors. The ambitious project, which has recently completed its bidding process, is poised to become a premier tourist destination in the region.
The park will span an impressive 4.5 hectares and is being constructed with an estimated investment of Rs 22 crore. Officials anticipate its completion within a six-month timeframe, marking a significant addition to Bihar's tourism infrastructure.
Interactive and Themed Zones
According to detailed plans, the park will be divided into six distinct themed zones, including a dedicated T-Rex area, relaxation spaces, play zones, and a specially designed 'danger' zone to heighten the adventure. Visitors will enter through a massive Jurassic-themed gate and proceed through a tunnel crafted to resemble a skeletal structure, immediately immersing them in the ancient world.
Nalanda divisional forest officer (DFO) Raj Kumar M emphasized that the dinosaur models will be far from static. "Using advanced brushless motors and sensor technology, the replicas will exhibit realistic movements such as opening their mouths, emitting sounds, turning their necks, and simulating breathing," he explained.
Key Attractions and Realistic Features
The centerpiece of the park will be a colossal Diplodocus measuring 15 meters in length and 7 meters in height. Additional highlights include a 13-meter Spinosaurus and the iconic T-Rex, all designed with high-density sponge and silicone rubber coatings to achieve authentic skin textures.
To recreate the ecosystem of the dinosaur era, the park will feature a 6-meter-tall artificial volcano that emits smoke and light, mimicking volcanic activity. A 4-meter-tall talking tree will interact with children through eye and mouth movements, enhancing engagement for younger visitors.
Educational and Recreational Facilities
Several child-centric amenities are being incorporated, such as a digging site where kids can search for hidden dinosaur fossils and bones, offering an archaeological experience. A dino-riding facility will also allow children to ride on replica dinosaurs.
For modern tourists, multiple selfie points will be strategically placed, including scenarios like a dinosaur on a bus, a broken cage, and spots where visitors can pose with their heads inside a dinosaur's mouth, expected to drive social media engagement.
Educational components include a 3D theatre that will showcase the history, evolution, and extinction theories of dinosaurs, aimed at fostering understanding of Earth's biodiversity among the youth. For convenience, a cafeteria and souvenir shop will be established, allowing visitors to relax and purchase memorabilia.
