Nashik's Comprehensive Plan for 2027 Simhastha Kumbh Mela Unveiled
As Nashik prepares to host the grand Simhastha Kumbh Mela in 2027, the Maharashtra state tourism department has formulated a detailed action plan to enhance visitor facilitation. The initiative focuses on establishing eight strategically located tourist information centers across the city and deploying approximately 150 professionally trained tourist guides during the massive religious congregation.
Strategic Tourist Information Centers
The proposed eight tourist information centers will function as single-window facilities, providing comprehensive assistance to the expected millions of pilgrims and tourists. These centers are designed to offer detailed information about:
- Major tourist attractions in Nashik district and surrounding regions
- Accommodation options ranging from budget to premium stays
- Transport connectivity including train and bus schedules
- Local travel arrangements and facility information
The centers will be strategically positioned at high-footfall locations to maximize accessibility. Key sites include Nashik Road railway station, major parking hubs, the city airport, and other crowded areas frequented by visitors.
Deployment of 150 Trained Tourist Guides
In addition to the information centers, the tourism department has finalized plans to deploy 150 guides who will be stationed across Nashik city and the important pilgrimage site of Trimbakeshwar. These guides will provide valuable assistance to visitors by offering information about:
- Prominent temples and religious sites
- Sacred ghats along the Godavari River
- Heritage sites and cultural landmarks
- Other places of interest during the Kumbh Mela period
Professional Training and Long-Term Benefits
Nandakumar Raut, deputy director of the directorate of tourism (DOT), confirmed that the department has already finalized the list of 150 guides for the Kumbh Mela. "These guides will undergo specialized training conducted by a Guwahati-based institute in collaboration with subject experts from Maharashtra," Raut explained. "This ensures they are thoroughly knowledgeable about local history, religious significance, and comprehensive tourism-related information."
Raut emphasized that the deployment of trained guides serves a dual purpose: immediate assistance during the Kumbh Mela and long-term tourism promotion for Nashik. "The guides will help visitors plan trips to nearby destinations and raise awareness about Nashik's rich cultural, religious, and heritage wealth," he stated. This strategic approach aims to create a lasting positive impact on Nashik's tourism infrastructure beyond the 2027 event.
The comprehensive action plan reflects Maharashtra's commitment to ensuring a smooth and enriching experience for the millions expected to attend the Simhastha Kumbh Mela, while simultaneously boosting the region's tourism profile for years to come.
