The much-anticipated annual Winterline Carnival in the hill station of Mussoorie has officially been scheduled to take place from December 24 to December 29 this year. The decision was finalized during a key meeting held in Dehradun on Tuesday, which was chaired by Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi.
Focus on Visitor Experience and Infrastructure
During the meeting, Minister Joshi issued clear directives to all line department officials, emphasizing the need for a hassle-free experience for visitors. He instructed them to pay special attention to critical areas including traffic management, parking facilities, reliable electricity, and uninterrupted water supply. A strong emphasis was also placed on maintaining overall cleanliness throughout the town during the festive period.
The minister's instructions underscore the administration's commitment to ensuring that the influx of tourists for the carnival does not lead to inconvenience, aiming instead for a seamless and enjoyable celebration.
Preparations in Full Swing
Speaking about the ongoing arrangements, Mussoorie's Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Rahul Anand, confirmed that preparations are advancing rapidly. The administration is currently working on finalizing a detailed program for the six-day event.
"The focus would be on showcasing the tradition and culture of Uttarakhand through various events. We are planning a detailed itinerary of the events," Anand stated in a conversation with the Times of India. This indicates that attendees can look forward to an authentic immersion into the local heritage.
A Decade-Long Celebration of Culture
The Winterline Carnival has been a staple event in Mussoorie's calendar since its inception in 2013. Over the years, it has grown into a vibrant platform that highlights the rich cultural tapestry of the region. The carnival typically features:
