IndiGo Issues UAE Weather Advisory for Dec 18 Flights, Warns of Disruptions
IndiGo UAE Weather Advisory: Flight Delays, Cancellations Possible

Indian low-cost carrier IndiGo has issued a travel advisory for its passengers, cautioning that adverse weather conditions in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) could disrupt flight operations on Thursday, 18 December. The airline forecasts heavy rainfall and thunderstorms across the region, which may lead to intermittent impacts on its schedules throughout the day.

Details of the IndiGo Travel Advisory

In a post on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, the airline outlined the potential challenges. "Weather conditions across the UAE are forecast to shift, with heavy rainfall and thunderstorm expected," IndiGo stated. The airline acknowledged that this evolving situation could affect flight operations at various points during Thursday. While IndiGo is making efforts to maintain its schedule, the unpredictable weather may force adjustments, including possible cancellations.

What Passengers Need to Do

Passengers booked on IndiGo flights to or from the UAE on 18 December are strongly advised to take proactive steps. The airline recommends regularly checking the flight status on its official website for the most current updates. Furthermore, travelers should anticipate road delays en route to the airport and are urged to allow extra travel time for their journey.

If a flight is cancelled or significantly delayed, affected customers have options. They can explore alternate travel arrangements or request a refund directly through IndiGo's Plan B facility. The airline has committed to sending proactive notifications to keep impacted passengers informed in real time about any changes to their travel plans.

IndiGo's Operations Stabilize in India After Recent Crisis

This advisory comes as IndiGo recovers from a separate operational crisis within India. Earlier in December, starting from the 2nd, the airline was forced to cancel hundreds of flights across its domestic network. This widespread disruption stranded thousands of passengers at major Indian airports for several days.

However, the situation now appears to have normalized. IndiGo's Chief Executive Officer, Pieter Elbers, informed employees on Thursday that the airline has emerged stronger from this challenging period. Operations have steadied, and the network has been restored to approximately 2,200 daily flights.

Outlining the path forward, Elbers emphasized three key priorities for the airline: resilience, root cause analysis, and rebuilding. He highlighted the onset of the IROP (Irregular Operations) season and stated the focus would be on maintaining stable operations and minimizing the impact of external factors, like severe weather, on customers.
