Bollywood actor Ananya Panday made a stunning appearance on the runway for acclaimed designer Rahul Mishra during the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) X Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) 2026 in Mumbai. The event showcased Mishra's latest collection, marking a significant milestone in his career.
Ananya Panday's Show-Stopping Ensemble
Ananya Panday captivated audiences in a striking all-white outfit that perfectly embodied the designer's artistic vision. Her ensemble featured a crisp white shirt adorned with delicate dragonfly embellishments, paired with a glossy oversized blazer and a pleated ivory skirt. The look highlighted Mishra's attention to detail and thematic storytelling.
After the show, Panday expressed her admiration for the collection, stating, "I love everything about what I'm wearing. I was sold on the idea of the blazer with a dragonfly with a shirt. There's always a story, meaning and significance to it. He is truly an artist. It's lovely to work with them." Her words underscored the collaborative spirit and creative depth of the presentation.
Rahul Mishra's Fall/Winter 2026 Collection
Rahul Mishra unveiled his Fall/Winter 2026 collection, titled White Gold by AFEW, in partnership with FDCI at Lakme Fashion Week. The collection included:
- Oversized blazers
- Stylish shirts
- Wide-leg pants
- Elegant skirts
This showcase was a collaboration between Mishra's easy-to-wear label, AFEW Rahul Mishra, and Supima, a premier brand of American-grown cotton. Mishra explained, "Cotton has always been deeply connected to our country's textile heritage, and working with Supima allowed us to explore its lightness, strength, and adaptability in new ways while remaining rooted in handloom and hand embroidery."
Celebrating Two Decades in Fashion
The show held special significance as it celebrated Rahul Mishra's 20th anniversary in the fashion industry. He made his debut at Lakme Fashion Week in 2006 as a GenNext designer. Reflecting on this journey, Mishra said, "Twenty years ago, the GenNext platform gave me the courage to imagine a different future for Indian craft. This showcase feels like a natural continuation of that journey."
A highlight of the event was the artistic representation of bugs, such as dragonflies, on the ceiling. According to Mishra, this reflected the collection's theme, where dragonflies are celebrated as natural pesticides in cotton fields, adding an ecological narrative to the designs.
Other Highlights from Lakme Fashion Week
In another notable performance, Grammy-nominated singer-rapper Raja Kumari added an electrifying edge to designer Shruti Sancheti's Khadi India showcase. Her powerful voice and enigmatic presence transformed the atmosphere, with a special rendition of Made in India creating a nostalgic and enchanting moment for the audience.
The Lakme Fashion Week 2026 continues to be a premier platform for Indian fashion, blending creativity, sustainability, and star power to set trends for the upcoming seasons.
