Families were seen making last-minute purchases of colors, water guns, and decorative items for Holika Dahan. Shopkeepers reported a significant increase in sales on the eve of Holi, with traditional snacks such as dhani (popped sorghum/jowar) and khajur (dates) being popular choices alongside vibrant gulal and trendy pichkaris.
Rise of Eco-Friendly and Natural Alternatives
Stalls selling eco-friendly colors made from natural ingredients are drawing steady buyers. These colors are crafted from sources like turmeric, beetroot, and flower extracts, offering a safer and more sustainable option for the festivities. This trend reflects a growing environmental consciousness among residents.
Innovative Celebrations Blending Tradition and Wellness
Adding a unique touch to the celebrations, a city school has planned eco-friendly Holi events. Students and teachers have arranged nearly 500 kg of flowers and opted for organic dry colors to promote a greener festival. Furthermore, an ayurvedic Holika Dahan will be organized, featuring a bonfire that includes around 40 ayurvedic ingredients such as camphor, nagarmotha, and jatamansi.
