Uttarakhand Culture Thrives at Lucknow's Uttarayani Kauthig 2026

Hundreds of visitors, many from the hills, flocked to Lucknow on Sunday. They explored stalls showcasing Uttarakhand's traditional products. The event marked the fifth day of the 15-day Uttarayani Kauthig 2026, organized by Parvatiya Mahaparishad 2026.

Traditional Crafts Take Center Stage

Stalls displayed a vibrant array of items. Visitors admired paintings, crockery, and handbags featuring 'Pichouri' and 'Aipan' prints. Batuas, traditional pouches, also caught people's eyes.

Devbhoomi Gallery Draws Crowds

A temporary 'Devbhoomi' gallery became the festival's major attraction. It featured famous Uttarakhand prints on crockery, wall hangings, and handbags. The gallery highlighted the region's artistic heritage.

Moonj grass products were in high demand. Shoppers eagerly bought roti boxes, baskets, pen holders, and trays made from this natural material.

Utensils and Handicrafts Sell Fast

Copper, brass, and aluminum utensils from Uttarakhand proved popular. Items like woks, pans, ladles, spice heating pans, ghagris (water pots), and griddles flew off the shelves.

Alekha Bisht, a visitor from Uttarakhand, shared her experience. "I purchased aluminum ghagris, a copper griddle, and Aipan crockery," she said. "These items are hard to find here, and bringing them from Uttarakhand is very difficult."

Anand Pant came with his brother to shop for family. "I bought two pichouri batuas for my mother and wife," he explained. "I also picked up Aipan print tea cups for my sister."

Cultural Performances Enthrall Audience

Beyond shopping, visitors enjoyed rich cultural activities. Artists from Uttarakhand, including Govind Digari, presented folk songs that captivated the crowd.

A dance drama based on the Uttarakhandi folklore 'Rajula Malusahi' received high applause. The performance brought traditional stories to life, delighting everyone present.

The festival continues to celebrate Uttarakhand's heritage, drawing more visitors each day. It offers a unique glimpse into the region's crafts and culture right in the heart of Lucknow.
