Ranchi Municipal Corporation Intensifies Preparations for Chaiti Chhath Festival
As the auspicious festival of Chaiti Chhath commenced and with the significant 'sandhya argha' ritual scheduled for Tuesday, city authorities in Ranchi conducted thorough inspections of major ponds and ghats on Monday. These locations are where thousands of devotees will gather to perform traditional rituals during this important Hindu festival.
Comprehensive Inspection of Key Ritual Sites
Officials from the Ranchi Municipal Corporation visited prominent water bodies including Bada Talab (also known as Vivekananda Sarovar), Tetartoli Pond, and Divyayan Pond. During these inspections, they meticulously reviewed multiple aspects of festival preparations including cleanliness standards, lighting arrangements, and accessibility of routes for devotees.
While sanitation levels were generally found to be satisfactory, authorities issued specific directions to maintain and intensify cleaning operations throughout the entire festival period. To ensure water hygiene and minimize potential health risks for devotees, the use of bleaching powder and alum is being significantly scaled up across all major ritual sites.
Official Commitment to Devotee Safety and Comfort
Sushant Gaurav, Administrator of Ranchi Municipal Corporation, emphasized the administration's commitment stating, "We aim to ensure that all ghats provide a clean, safe and well-lit environment to devotees during Chaiti Chhath, with continuous monitoring and timely action by all teams."
Safety measures have been prioritized with specific instructions for barricading deep water zones to prevent accidents, installing adequate lighting systems at all ghats, and setting up temporary changing rooms to accommodate devotees' needs during rituals.
Infrastructure and Logistical Enhancements
Entry points and approach roads to the ritual sites are undergoing thorough cleaning, with water being sprinkled regularly to manage dust levels and facilitate smoother crowd movement during peak hours. Authorities have also initiated action against unauthorized commercial activities around Bada Talab to reduce congestion and improve access for devotees.
Across the city, comprehensive arrangements include the installation of nearly 100 temporary changing rooms near 26 different ponds. Approximately 1,200 sanitation workers have been deployed specifically for festival duties, while lighting systems at major ghats are being repaired and upgraded to accommodate early morning and evening rituals.
Official Statement on Festival Preparations
In an official statement, the Ranchi Municipal Corporation declared, "Extensive arrangements have been made at all major ghats, including cleanliness drives, lighting restoration and deployment of manpower to ensure a hygienic and secure environment for devotees throughout the festival period."
The municipal body has established a comprehensive monitoring system to address any issues promptly and ensure that the Chaiti Chhath celebrations proceed smoothly while maintaining public health standards and safety protocols for all participants.
