Punjab's First 7D Auditorium to Honour Shaheed Udham Singh

In a significant move to honour a revolutionary hero, Punjab is set to establish its first-ever state-of-the-art 7D auditorium in Sunam, Sangrur. This ambitious project, with a budget of ₹21.17 crore, is dedicated to the life and sacrifice of Shaheed Udham Singh, who was born in the town. The foundation stone was recently laid by Punjab Minister Aman Arora, marking the start of a transformative initiative aimed at blending education with cutting-edge technology.

A Modern Tribute to a Revolutionary Legacy

The core of the revamped memorial complex will be Punjab's pioneering 7D auditorium. Designed for an immersive experience, it will use advanced technology to portray the Indian freedom movement and the pivotal events that shaped Udham Singh's path. Beyond the auditorium, the project encompasses a comprehensive upgrade of the site to create a multifaceted destination.

The planned features are extensive and symbolic. They include a 20-foot brass statue of the martyr and an eternally lit torch, or 'mashaal'. A state-of-the-art museum will be constructed to ensure the proper preservation and dignified display of his mortal remains and related historical artefacts, which are currently housed under basic conditions.

Immersive Features and Educational Aims

To contextualise the history for visitors, the complex will feature a poignant replica of the 'Bloody Well' of Jallianwala Bagh, a tragic event that deeply influenced the young Udham Singh. The grounds will also be enhanced with modern entrance gates, a musical fountain depicting the map of India, and a cafeteria for visitor convenience.

Officials envision the project as both a major tourist attraction and a vital educational hub. It aims to highlight Punjab's immense contribution to India's struggle for independence and to deepen public understanding of the sacrifices made by freedom fighters. The goal is to make history engaging and accessible, especially for younger generations.

Inspiring Future Generations

Minister Aman Arora emphasised the project's modern approach to storytelling. He stated that the unique setup would present the unparalleled sacrifice and valour of Shaheed Udham Singh in a compelling manner. The minister expressed confidence that the 7D auditorium and upgraded memorial complex would not only honour the martyr but also serve as a source of inspiration, encouraging countless visitors to draw strength from the nation's freedom struggle heritage.

This initiative represents a significant investment in cultural infrastructure for Punjab. By situating this advanced facility in Sunam, the birthplace of Udham Singh, the government aims to create a powerful pilgrimage site that connects people with a crucial chapter of history through the power of experiential technology.
