Political leaders and cultural officials gathered in Mysuru on Thursday to honor the immortal legacy of master sculptor Amarashilpi Jakanachari, highlighting his profound impact on Indian temple architecture and craftsmanship.

Speaking at the Amarashilpi Jakanachari Jayanti event, Congress MLC D Thimmaiah declared that the sculptor's legacy is eternal and will continue to inspire future generations. The event was organized by the Mysuru district administration, the Department of Kannada and Culture, and the Mysuru City Corporation at Kiru Rangamandira.
Thimmaiah emphasized the exceptional skill required for stone carving, describing it as a demanding art form. He stated that the temples crafted by Jakanachari stand as living examples of unmatched beauty and perfection. He credited the brilliance of master sculptors like Jakanachari for giving Indian temple architecture a distinction that has no parallel in the world.

JD(S) MLC C N Manjegowda addressed the gathering, describing Jakanachari as a legendary sculptor of Karnataka. He noted that the artisan's extraordinary skill earned him lasting fame and that his works remain a powerful source of inspiration. Manjegowda urged the public to delve deeper into Jakanachari's life and contributions to fully appreciate his genius.
Chamaraja MLA K Harishgowda echoed these sentiments, affirming that Jakanachari will forever be remembered in Indian history and revered with the title "Amarashilpi" (Immortal Sculptor). He highlighted the ongoing role of the Vishwakarma community in society, which continues to uphold Jakanachari's ideals through dedication to craftsmanship and hard work.
Call for Blending Tradition with Modern Education
Beyond celebrating the past, the event also looked toward the future. MLA K Harishgowda encouraged the youth to pursue modern education while also valuing and acquiring traditional skills.
