In a gesture highlighting the festive unity of the season, Mizoram Governor General Vijay Kumar Singh joined the Christmas congregation at the Central Church of the Baptist Church of Mizoram (BCM) in Aizawl on Thursday. The governor's participation underscored the significance of the occasion, where he conveyed warm greetings and shared a message centered on hope, humility, and communal harmony.
A Message of Love in Action and Peace
Addressing the gathered worshippers, Governor Singh extended his heartfelt Christmas wishes to all residents of Mizoram. He reflected on the festival's core values, describing it as a celebration that brings light and hope to the world through the embodiment of a humble life. Moving beyond mere words, the governor stressed the importance of tangible actions.
He urged the community to actively demonstrate love through their deeds, especially during this festive period. Singh also highlighted the unique capacity of Christmas to consistently foster an atmosphere of peace and harmony among people, a sentiment deeply resonant in the culturally rich state of Mizoram.
Festive Celebrations and Public Openings at Lok Bhavan
The governor's church visit was part of a series of celebratory events in the state capital. Earlier, on the evening of December 19, a vibrant Christmas Carol Service was successfully organized at Lok Bhavan. This event was a collaborative effort with the Aizawl West-I Area Masihi Sangati, filling the venue with festive music and joy.
Further extending the Christmas cheer to the public, Lok Bhavan was opened for visitors on December 24, 25, and 26. The state has planned to continue this inclusive approach for the New Year celebrations as well. The public can again visit Lok Bhavan on January 1, 2, and 3, 2024, to partake in the New Year festivities.
Looking Ahead with Hope and Faith
Concluding his Christmas address, Governor Vijay Kumar Singh also looked forward to the upcoming year. He extended his best wishes for the New Year to the people of Mizoram, encouraging them to step into the future embracing the timeless virtues of hope, love, and faith. His dual message, celebrating Christmas and ushering in the New Year, reinforced themes of unity and positive forward momentum for the state.
