Kala Sangam Festival Opens in Prayagraj with 120+ Artists

The vibrant Kala Sangam cultural programme kicked off in a grand manner at the Parade Ground within the Magh Mela area of Prayagraj on Sunday. The inaugural day was graced by the soulful performance of the celebrated folk singer, Malini Awasthi, setting a devotional and artistic tone for the event.

A Grand Cultural Gathering by UP Department of Culture

Organised by the Uttar Pradesh Department of Culture, this festival is a significant showcase of the region's rich artistic heritage. The department has curated an extensive lineup, with more than 120 artists scheduled to participate over the course of the event. The festival is designed to be a confluence of diverse folk traditions, offering a platform for both renowned and emerging talents.

Highlights from the Inaugural Day

The first day of Kala Sangam featured a total of six captivating performances. The day's proceedings began with devotional folk songs presented by Uday Chandra Pardeshi and his team, which beautifully warmed up the audience for the events to follow.

The crowd was utterly mesmerized by the subsequent performance of Malini Awasthi, whose powerful rendition of devotional songs created an atmosphere of deep reverence and cultural pride. Another unique attraction that captivated attendees was the conch shell performance by Ram Janam's team from Varanasi, showcasing a rare and traditional musical art form.

Festival to Continue Till January 30

The artistic journey at the Parade Ground is far from over. The Kala Sangam programme is set to continue, offering daily performances and cultural exhibits, until January 30. This provides ample opportunity for locals and visitors to immerse themselves in the folk traditions of Uttar Pradesh. The entire programme was seamlessly hosted by Abha Madhur, who guided the audience through the cultural feast.

This festival not only celebrates art but also strengthens the cultural fabric of Prayagraj during the auspicious Magh Mela period, drawing artists and art lovers from across the region.
