Hampi Utsav 2026: Historic Ruins to Host Grand Cultural Festival from Feb 13-15

The historic ruins of Hampi, a UNESCO World Heritage site in the Vijayanagara district, are all set to host the much-anticipated Hampi Utsav 2026 from February 13 to 15. Elaborate arrangements have been meticulously planned across the sprawling heritage site to ensure a memorable experience for visitors.

Inauguration and Key Attendees

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is scheduled to inaugurate the three-day cultural festival on the evening of February 13. The grand inauguration ceremony will be graced by the presence of ministers, elected representatives, celebrities, artists, and senior officials, adding to the event's prestige and significance.

Organisation and Budget

Organised jointly by the state government and the district administration, this year's festival is being held with a substantial budget of approximately Rs 14 to 15 crore. Authorities are expecting a massive turnout of 8 to 10 lakh visitors during the celebrations, which is projected to make this edition one of the largest in recent years.

Venues and Cultural Programmes

As many as six grand stages have been erected at key locations throughout Hampi, including the main MP Prakash Vedike, Krishnadevaraya Vedike, and the Virupaksha stage. These venues will host a diverse range of cultural programmes, such as:

  • Theatre shows
  • Cultural processions
  • Rangoli competitions
  • Art exhibitions

Major Attractions and Illumination

A major highlight of this year's festival is the large-scale drone show, featuring 1,000 drones that will illuminate the night sky with stunning visuals. These displays will depict iconic landmarks like the Stone Chariot and Virupaksha Temple, as well as prominent rulers of the Vijayanagara Empire.

In addition, extensive illumination has been arranged along the Hosapete-Hampi corridor to enhance the festive ambience and create a magical atmosphere for visitors. This lighting setup is designed to complement the historic surroundings and highlight the architectural marvels of the region.

The Hampi Utsav 2026 promises to be a spectacular celebration of culture, heritage, and community, drawing thousands to experience the rich traditions of Karnataka in a truly historic setting.
