The four-day Chaiti Chhath Puja reached its spiritual zenith on Wednesday as thousands of devotees across Patna gathered to offer arghya to the rising sun. This sacred ritual marked the conclusion of the festival, with participants thronging the banks of the Ganga, artificial ponds, and even rooftops to perform the ceremonial offerings. The 36-hour rigorous fast observed by the devotees also came to an end with the traditional parana ritual, symbolizing the breaking of their spiritual vow.

Following the morning arghya, the atmosphere in Patna was filled with joy and devotion as devotees exchanged mangal tika and distributed prasad. The fast was broken with refreshing sherbet, tea, and milk, shared among family and community members. He emphasized that this practice is believed to enhance longevity, health, fame, and prosperity. "This year's Chhath was observed during an auspicious planetary alignment," he noted, highlighting the celestial importance of the event.
Pandit Jha elaborated on the specific offerings, stating, "Offering arghya from a copper vessel with water mixed with red sandalwood, red flowers, and perfume is believed to bestow longevity, knowledge, and strength. Offering milk helps attain prosperity, while water mixed with jaggery is associated with good fortune." He also referenced ancient texts, citing the Skanda Purana, where King Priyavrat observed the Chhath fast to seek relief from leprosy, describing the ritual as 'Pratihar Shashthi'.
