Basava Jayanti was celebrated with immense enthusiasm and reverence in Hubballi city on Sunday, drawing large crowds of devotees, political leaders, and social activists. Timmapur stressed the critical need for the younger generation to understand and adopt the values preached by the social reformer, emphasizing their relevance in contemporary times.
Union Minister Pralhad Joshi also addressed the gathering, noting that Basavanna introduced representation for women in the Anubhava Mantapa back in the 12th century. Joshi expressed disappointment over the defeat of the women's reservation bill in his own land, calling it very unfortunate. In his remarks to reporters on Monday, Joshi further commented on the proposed delimitation of Lok Sabha constituencies, stating that it involves a proportionate increase for all states and would not harm any state. He criticized the Opposition, particularly the Congress, for betraying people by opposing it.
Joshi added that Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar is making statements against these bills with the intention of becoming the Chief Minister, merely to please Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Vadra.
