In a welcome move for festival enthusiasts and traders alike, the historic Bali Yatra in Cuttack has been officially extended by one additional day. The decision came directly from Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday, responding to the tremendous public response and business opportunities the fair has generated.
Government Decision Driven by Public Demand
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced the extension that allows the iconic fair to continue through Thursday. The CM clarified that the decision was made specifically considering the overwhelming public participation and to support the business interests of the numerous traders involved in the event.
This extension means visitors now have extra time to experience the rich cultural heritage and commercial offerings that make Bali Yatra one of Odisha's most celebrated festivals.
Governor's Participation in Valedictory Events
On the same day, Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati graced the valedictory ceremony of the Bali Yatra with his presence. His itinerary included:
- Arrival at Silver City Boat Club at 4 PM
- Proceeding to Gadagadia ghat to witness the final boat race
- Visiting the popular dahibara haat
- Exploring Pallishree Mela and experience zone
- Interacting directly with traders and artisans
Stakeholders Celebrate Extension Decision
The extension announcement has been met with widespread appreciation from both visitors and business participants. Sasmita Rout, a visitor to the fair, expressed her delight, stating: "I'm glad the government extended Bali Yatra by a day. The fair is huge, and one visit isn't enough to explore everything."
From the business perspective, Prakash Behera, a stall owner from Mayurbhanj participating in the Pallishree Mela, shared his enthusiasm: "The extension has made us happy. We've had great sales and an extra day means more customers and better visibility for our products."
The extended Bali Yatra continues to draw crowds, offering additional opportunities for cultural immersion, economic activity, and community engagement in Cuttack's historic festival landscape.
