Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to participate in the grand maha aarti of the gold-plated Sarveshwar Mahadev idol at the center of Sursagar lake in Vadodara this Sunday, on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri. This significant religious event marks the culmination of the city's annual Shiv Ji Ki Savari procession, a cherished tradition that draws devotees from across the region.

Annual Shiv Ji Ki Savari Procession Details

The Shiv Ji Ki Savari is a vibrant annual procession that features idols of Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati, and their sons Ganesha and Kartikeya, all seated majestically on a large Nandi, with Narad Muni standing alongside. This procession is a highlight of Maha Shivratri celebrations in Vadodara, symbolizing devotion and cultural heritage.

Route of the Procession:

  • Begins at Ranmukteshwar Temple in Pratapnagar
  • Winds through the historic walled city
  • Passes along Rajmahal Road and Dandia Bazaar
  • Concludes at Udaynarayan Temple near Baroda Medical College after the maha aarti at Sursagar

Elaborate Security Measures for the Event

In light of Amit Shah's participation and the large expected turnout, authorities have implemented comprehensive security arrangements. Approximately 3,000 police personnel will be deployed to ensure safety and order during the procession, which is scheduled to start at 3 pm.

Additional security forces include:
