Aerial Dance, Phulkari Show & Art Festival This Weekend

Gravity-Defying French Dance Tours India

The Yoann Bourgeois Art Company and Compagnie ISI present their double bill production, Elevation, across India this month. People describe this show as aerial poetry. The French Institute of India, in collaboration with the Alliance Francaise Network in India, brings this spectacular performance to audiences.

The production combines Approach 17. Opening Act and Dialogue au Mat (Le Mat). Yoann Bourgeois choreographed the first piece. He famously collaborated with global stars like Coldplay and Harry Styles. Lucan Struna choreographed the second piece.

You can catch the show at three locations. It opens at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on January 17 and 18. The tour then moves to the Kanoria Centre for Arts in Ahmedabad on January 24. Finally, it concludes at the Lodhi Art District Festival in New Delhi on February 1.

Dheer Kaku Explores Safe Spaces in Mumbai

Method Kala Ghoda in Mumbai hosts Dheer Kaku's solo exhibition, Unstill Life. The artist uses a still-life approach to examine architectural elements. He creates both sculptures and assemblages for this show.

Kaku focuses on the disappearance of shared spaces from modern life. His inspiration comes from his childhood. He sought moments of calm within a busy and difficult environment during his growing-up years.

One particularly interesting piece is Safe place. Kaku inserts a drawing of a home within a maze of buildings. This resembles the geographical markers you see on GPS navigation systems.

The exhibition runs until February 15. Viewing hours are 2-8 PM on weekdays and 12-8 PM on weekends. Please note, the gallery remains closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
