Rajasthan Launches Massive Food Safety Training Drive, Aims for World Record
In a significant move to combat food adulteration, the Rajasthan food safety commissionerate on Tuesday conducted a large-scale training program, educating more than 30,000 food business operators and related workers. This marks the first day of an ambitious two-day drive that aims to reach a total of 50,000 trainees across the state.
Shuddh Aahar Campaign: A Dual Focus on Enforcement and Awareness
Principal Secretary (Health) Gayatri Rathore emphasized that this initiative is a core component of the "Shuddh Aahar—Milavat Par Vaar" campaign, which translates to "Pure Food—War Against Adulteration." Rathore highlighted that the program's focus extends beyond mere enforcement. "The campaign is not only about enforcement but also about building widespread awareness regarding the manufacture and sale of safe, pure food, and ensuring strict compliance with food safety regulations," she stated.
Rathore described the training drive as a historic step for protecting public health in Rajasthan, underscoring its importance in safeguarding consumers from adulterated products.
Diverse Participants and World Record Ambition
Food Safety Commissioner T. Shubhamangala provided details on the extensive reach of the training. The participants included a wide array of individuals involved in food handling and preparation:
- Anganwadi workers
- Mid-day meal staff
- Government hostel staff
- Jail kitchen employees
- Hotel and dhaba operators
- Street food vendors
- Various other workers linked to food businesses
Commissioner Shubhamangala also revealed that the department has initiated the process to have this achievement registered as a world record, citing the unprecedented scale of the training session.
Strengthening Food Safety Across Rajasthan
Shubhamangala expressed confidence that the campaign will significantly bolster food safety awareness and improve hygienic food handling practices throughout the state. "This initiative is designed to strengthen food safety awareness and promote better hygienic food handling across Rajasthan, ensuring that consumers have access to pure and safe food," she explained.
The two-day drive represents a proactive effort by the Rajasthan government to address food adulteration through education and training, targeting a critical mass of food industry workers to create a lasting impact on public health standards.
