SSB's Sonepur Fair Medical Camp Treats Over 5,100, Offers Free Care
Over 5,100 Treated at SSB's Free Medical Camp in Sonepur

The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) is providing a crucial health lifeline to thousands at the iconic Sonepur fair, with its ongoing free medical camp having treated more than 5,100 people by Saturday. The camp, which offers comprehensive health screenings and free essential medicines, stands as a significant public service initiative, embodying the force's motto of 'service, security and brotherhood'.

Comprehensive Healthcare Services for All

The well-organized camp features dedicated counters for general health check-ups. Visitors can easily access screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar, heart rate, and body temperature. Recognizing the high prevalence of certain conditions, the SSB has also set up a specialized unit focused solely on diabetes and hypertension management, ensuring targeted care for high-risk patients.

Beyond immediate treatment, the camp plays an educational role by distributing vital public health information. Awareness materials and consultations cover essential topics like personal hygiene, prevention of seasonal diseases, principles of good nutrition, maintaining a balanced diet, and basic first aid techniques.

Focused Care for Vulnerable Groups

Understanding diverse needs, the organizers have created separate consultation areas for women, children, and senior citizens. This thoughtful arrangement ensures privacy, comfort, and tailored medical attention for these groups, encouraging more people to seek care.

The project is being led by Inspector General of SSB, Frontier Headquarters Patna, Nishit Kumar Ujjwal. The on-ground medical success has been significantly driven by Commandant (Medical) Dr. Nishi Kant, whose warm and respectful approach towards patients built widespread trust. This rapport has been instrumental in the camp's outreach, with successfully treated patients exceeding 4,500 by Saturday.

A Camp for the Duration of the Fair

The SSB has committed to running this essential service for the entire duration of the Sonepur fair, ensuring that visitors throughout the event's timeline can benefit from free healthcare. This initiative not only provides immediate relief but also promotes a culture of health consciousness among the masses who attend one of India's largest cattle fairs.

By offering these services free of cost, the SSB is alleviating the healthcare burden for thousands of families and contributing positively to the public health landscape during the major gathering. The camp's impressive patient count underscores the substantial need and the successful execution of this benevolent project.
