OSCPCR Chairperson Conducts Comprehensive Review of Child Services in Kotia
Babita Patra, the Chairperson of the Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (OSCPCR), undertook a detailed review of child development and nutrition services in Kotia panchayat, located within the Pottangi block, on Thursday. This visit focused on evaluating the implementation of various government schemes aimed at enhancing child welfare and maternal health in the region.
Focus on Maternal and Child Health in Disputed Area
During her inspection of the disputed Kotia region, Patra engaged directly with local women to discuss critical issues. She emphasized the vital importance of providing proper care for pregnant and lactating mothers, as well as ensuring balanced nutrition for children to support their growth and development. Her interactions highlighted the commission's commitment to addressing grassroots concerns and improving health outcomes.
Infrastructure Assessment at Anganwadi Centres
As part of her visit, Patra conducted thorough inspections of anganwadi centres to review the existing infrastructure and facilities available for children. This assessment aimed to identify gaps and ensure that these centres are adequately equipped to deliver essential services, including early childhood education and nutritional support.
Advocacy for Universal Education Access
In her remarks, Patra underscored a key priority: that no child in the Kotia region should be deprived of education. She stressed the need for integrated efforts to combine health and educational initiatives, ensuring that children receive holistic support for their overall well-being and future prospects.
This review by the OSCPCR chairperson marks a significant step in monitoring and enhancing child-focused programs in Odisha, with a particular focus on remote and disputed areas like Kotia.
