Trichy: Marking World Malaria Day, Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital (MGMGH) on Saturday organized an awareness rally and a programme to educate the public and medical community on the prevention and eradication of the disease.

Rally and Programme Details

The rally, held within the hospital premises, was organized by the departments of paediatrics, community medicine, and general medicine. It was followed by a programme at the hospital auditorium, presided over by dean Dr. S. Kumaravel.

Key Speakers and Themes

Addressing the gathering, the dean, along with deputy medical superintendent Dr. Arun Raj, professor of general medicine Dr. Satish Kumar, and head of community medicine Dr. Parveen, spoke on malaria transmission, its public health impact, and preventive measures. Speakers also highlighted this year's theme—"Driven to End Malaria: Now We Can. Now We Must"—and stressed the need for collective action to eliminate the disease.
