Kanpur Commemorates World Tuberculosis Day with Health Initiative
On Tuesday, the health department in Kanpur launched a significant campaign in observance of World Tuberculosis Day. The event, held at the new auditorium in Sarsaiya Ghat, saw the joint flag-off of a Nikshay vehicle by MLA Mahesh Trivedi, Saroj Kureel MLC Salil Vishnoi, marking a proactive step towards tuberculosis awareness and eradication.
Distribution of Nikshay Poshan Potli and Honors
As part of the campaign, Nikshay Poshan Potli were distributed among 25 TB patients, providing essential nutritional support. The initiative aligned with this year's World TB Day theme, 'Yes! We Can End TB – Led by Bharat, Powered by Janbhagidari', emphasizing the critical role of public participation in achieving TB elimination goals.
In recognition of their efforts, the heads of 58 Gram Panchayats that have been declared TB-free were honored during the event. Additionally, 16 Nikshay Mitras, who contributed to the Nikshay Poshan Yojana throughout the year 2025, were presented with certificates for their dedication and support.
Officials Applaud Effective Program Execution
District Magistrate Jitendra Prartap Singh extended greetings to key health officials for their effective execution of the National TB Abolition programme. Among those acknowledged were Additional Director of Medical Health and Family Welfare for Kanpur Division G K Mishra, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Hari Datt Nemi, and TB Officer Subodh Prakash. Their collaborative efforts have been instrumental in advancing tuberculosis control measures in the region.
The campaign underscores Kanpur's commitment to combating tuberculosis through community engagement and strategic health interventions, aiming for a TB-free future.
