In a significant move to address hunger and uplift the underprivileged, the Dumraon Sub-divisional Chamber of Commerce and Industries has announced the launch of a free daily meal service. The initiative, named Annapurna, is set to begin from the coming month and will cater specifically to the poor residents of Dumraon.
A Legacy of Social Service Drives New Initiative
The announcement was made by the Chamber's President, Pradeep Kumar Jaiswal, on Tuesday. Jaiswal, a figure renowned for his dedication to community welfare, stated that the core motive behind the free food service is to ensure that no individual in Dumraon has to sleep on an empty stomach. This project is not an isolated act of charity but part of a broader, two-decade-long commitment to social service by Jaiswal and his associates.
Their past endeavours include organising large-scale cataract operation camps that have provided critical medical assistance to over 20,000 impoverished patients from the region, restoring sight and hope.
Tribute to Pioneers and Community Support
The announcement follows a heartfelt event held on Monday, organised by the JP Memorial Charitable Trust. The programme paid homage to the late Jagdish Prasad and Shivkumari Devi for their immense contributions to social service. Presided over by trustee Pradeep Jaiswal, the event saw the presence of notable dignitaries as chief guests.
Buxar BJP MLA Anand Mishra and Dumraon MLA Rahul Kumar Singh attended the gathering, paying their respects to the departed souls. Addressing the audience, MLA Anand Mishra praised the organisation's relentless work, stating that its efforts to alleviate human suffering have become a true source of inspiration for the entire society.
Call for Collective Action and Immediate Relief
Echoing similar sentiments, Dumraon MLA Rahul Kumar Singh emphasised that societal progress is only possible when capable individuals and organisations step forward to support the weaker sections. The event was not just about tributes but also about tangible action. Demonstrating immediate compassion, blankets were distributed among 251 destitute and needy people during the programme to provide relief.
The occasion was further graced by the presence of BJP district president Omprakash Bhuvan and several prominent local businessmen from Dumraon, showcasing a united community front in supporting welfare activities.
With the Annapurna meal service, Pradeep Kumar Jaiswal and the Dumraon Chamber of Commerce are set to write a new chapter in community-driven support, directly tackling food insecurity and setting a powerful example of corporate social responsibility in the region.
