The Swami Vivekananda Blood Donation Foundation has called upon the Dharwad district administration to issue a circular mandating all schools and colleges in the district to observe World Blood Donor Day. The foundation emphasizes the need to create scientific awareness about blood donation among students.
Memorandum Submitted to Deputy Commissioner
In a memorandum submitted to the Deputy Commissioner of Dharwad on Thursday, foundation founder Shivakumar Rattihalli and vice-president Vidyanand Sthavaramath stated that today's students represent the future of India. They argued that developing a sense of social responsibility among students is an essential component of education.
Blood Donation as Social Responsibility
The foundation highlighted that blood donation is a vital social responsibility. World Blood Donor Day is observed globally on June 14 each year to raise awareness about the importance of donating blood. The foundation requested the district administration to issue immediate instructions to the heads of all schools and colleges in Dharwad district.
These instructions should mandate the organization of awareness programs and the scientific education of students about blood donation as part of the observance of World Blood Donor Day. The foundation believes that such initiatives will foster a culture of voluntary blood donation among the youth, ultimately benefiting society at large.
