Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta conducted a surprise inspection of the Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital in Dilshad Garden on Tuesday, issuing clear directives to hospital authorities to prioritise patient dignity and seamless medical services.
Focus on Compassionate and Timely Healthcare
During her visit, the Chief Minister meticulously reviewed facilities across various departments. She engaged in direct conversations with patients, doctors, nurses, and other staff members to get a ground-level understanding of the hospital's functioning. Gupta emphasised that quality healthcare extends beyond mere medical treatment and must encompass sensitivity, compassion, and respect for every individual seeking care.
She issued specific instructions to the officials present, mandating them to maintain impeccable cleanliness standards, ensure all medical equipment is functional, and work on improving overall patient convenience. A key focus was placed on creating a supportive environment that instils a sense of safety and trust among patients and their families.
Special Attention for Women and Senior Citizens
The Chief Minister paid particular attention to the experiences of women and senior citizens within the hospital system. She personally sought their feedback regarding the treatment they received and the facilities available to them. Gupta instructed the administration that senior citizens and women should not face any inconvenience at any stage of their hospital journey, from the initial registration and diagnostic processes to admission in wards and intensive care units.
She called for the establishment of facilitative mechanisms to guide and support patients throughout the entire treatment process. Reiterating her government's commitment, Gupta stated that providing accessible, humane, and high-quality healthcare remains a top priority for her administration.
Later Engagement: Honouring Atal Bihari Vajpayee
Later on Tuesday, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta attended a programme organised by the Maa Shakti Sanstha for Divyangjan (persons with disabilities). This event was held to mark the 101st birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, reflecting the day's broader engagement with community welfare and social initiatives alongside the governance review of healthcare infrastructure.
