Police in Nashik have taken legal action against a couple for allegedly operating a skin care clinic without possessing the necessary medical qualifications or official permissions. The case highlights growing concerns over unlicensed medical practices in the city.
Police Case Filed Following Patient Complaint
The Sarkarwada police formally registered a case after receiving a complaint from a health officer of the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC). The complaint was initiated based on allegations from a patient who claimed to have received incorrect treatment at the clinic located in the College Road area.
The patient first approached the civic health department to lodge a grievance regarding the treatment received. This prompted the NMC health officer to investigate and subsequently file a formal police complaint against the couple running the establishment.
Multiple Charges Under Stringent Laws
Authorities have invoked several serious sections against the accused. The case has been registered under sections 325 (cheating) and 125 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
In addition to these, charges have been applied under relevant sections of:
- The Maharashtra Medical Practitioners Act
- The Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act
This multi-pronged legal approach indicates the severity with which authorities are treating the operation of an unlicensed medical facility.
Investigation Ongoing, No Arrests Yet
While a formal case has been registered, police confirmed that no arrests have been made so far. The investigation is currently ongoing as officers gather further evidence and details regarding the clinic's operations and the extent of its patient dealings.
The incident serves as a stark reminder for the public to verify the credentials and licenses of healthcare providers before undergoing any treatment. It also underscores the vigilance of municipal health departments in cracking down on unauthorized medical practices that pose a risk to public safety.
