Fake Doctor Exposed After Five Years of Illegal Practice

Authorities in Krishnagiri district have successfully apprehended a man who was allegedly practicing allopathic medicine without any legitimate qualifications. The accused, identified as V Thavamani, 56, from Kaveripattinam, had been operating an unauthorized medical clinic directly from his residence, putting countless patients at risk over an extended period.

The Investigation That Led to Arrest

The case came to light when district medical department officials received a specific complaint regarding Thavamani's activities. According to the complaint, the individual had been illegally practicing medicine for approximately five years despite having no proper medical education or credentials. Acting promptly on this information, a dedicated inspection team was formed under the leadership of Dr. V Narayanasamy, the Chief Medical Officer of Pochampally Government Hospital.

During their thorough inspection of Thavamani's home-based clinic, the medical team made a startling discovery. The investigation revealed that Thavamani's educational qualification was limited to completing Class XII only, with no further medical training or degrees that would legally permit him to practice allopathic medicine. This finding confirmed the serious nature of the violations being committed.

Legal Action and Judicial Proceedings

Based on the official complaint filed by Dr. Narayanasamy after the inspection, the Kaveripattinam police immediately registered a formal case against Thavamani. The police moved quickly, resulting in the arrest of the accused on Thursday. Following his arrest, the judicial process moved forward with Thavamani being remanded to judicial custody as the legal proceedings continue to unfold.

This case highlights the ongoing efforts by health authorities and law enforcement to combat unqualified medical practitioners operating in the region. The successful operation demonstrates the effectiveness of public complaints in triggering investigations against healthcare fraud, ultimately protecting community health and safety.
